The Whistler Blackcomb resort now welcomes
millions of visitors every year. It is a lesser known fact
that, the original site of this popular resort was Whistler
Creekside. In the 1960’s, Whistler Creekside was the
beginning of a place that would become a household name.

Soon after the 1960’s, in its early development
period, it was decided to move the base of Whistler down the
road from Whistler Creekside to what is now known as Whistler
Village. Whistler Creekside became the quieter side of the increasingly
popular Whistler Blackcomb resort. Recently, Whistler Creekside
has gone through major redevelopments, and attracting more tourists
and investors with its quieter setting.
Whistler Creekside – Perfect Balance of
Nature & Activities
For many vacationers, the purpose of their trip is to retreat
from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you plan a trip
to Whistler Blackcomb, a stay at Whistler Creekside will provide
this experience. This area is a mere five minutes drive from Whistler
Village, yet it offers a tranquility that feels like you are hours
away from the busy hub of Whistler. Whistler Creekside is located
at the base of Whistler Mountain, with Creekside Gondola ready
to whisk you up for skiing or mountain biking adventures. The
Whistler Creekside Gondala is actually the site of the first Whistler
gondola back in the 1960’s. Whistler Creekside is also located
close to three beautiful nearby lakes: Alpha Lake, Nita Lake and
Alta Lake. So, you are in proximity with the essence of nature:
water and mountains. Additionally, as Whistler Creekside is quieter,
there are rarely any lineups at the gondola. Therefore, a trip
up to the mountains is truly mere minutes away from the doorstep

an excellent base to many of Whistler’s finest activities.
Already mentioned, the Whistler Creekside Gondola takes you
up into beautiful Whistler Mountain. In the mountains during
the winter, you can ski and snowboard down the world renowned
slopes of Whistler Mountain. In the winter, you can take the
gondola up to ride the rocky scenic mountain bike trails. Whistler
Mountain offers adventures galore all year round. Whistler Creekside
also is minutes away from all the Valley activities such as
snowshoeing and cross country skiing. In the summer, the nearby
lakes offer an abundant number of activities such as fishing,
and canoeing. Other summer activities are golfing, barbequing
by the glistening lake waters, hiking the trails, or simply
sun tanning on the lakeshore.

The Essentials
Whistler Creekside has become known as the quieter side of the
bustling Whistler Blackcomb resort. However, do not let its
reputation fool you into thinking you will have the experience
of being in the middle of nowhere. Whistler Creekside is a neighborhood
that provides all the essentials for its permanent and temporary
residents. There are trendy shops, filled with one of a kind
jewelry and clothing. The trend setters often seek out the shops
in Whistler Creekside as opposed to the more popular mainstream
shops in Whistler Village. Additionally, there are several fine
restaurants and après ski in the Whistler Creekside region.
Dusty’s Bar and BBQ is an original favorite haunt for
tourists as well as tourists. When Whistler Creekside underwent
its major developments, so did Dusty’s – it was
demolished and a new Dusty’s was rebuilt on the same site.
There is a full grocery market, liquor store, and bank also
located in Whistler Creekside. So, as you can see, if you stay
in Whistler Creekside, you really do not need to leave this
beautiful region. On the other hand, if you feel an urgent need
to go to Whistler Village, you can be there a quick five minutes
by car.

service, front desk service, you can choose a hotel stay at
First Tracks Lodge, or the more luxurious Legends. For a bit
more privacy and larger groups, rental of condominiums and town
homes may be a better choice. Condominiums available in Whistler
Creekside include Powderview, Lake Placid Lodge, and Sundance.
These units in these fine Whistler Creekside condominiums include
a cozy fire place and kitchen. Another form of accommodation
in Whistler Creekside that offers such amenities are rental
town homes. Two popular town homes in Whistler Creekside are
London Lan and Gondola Village.
The original starting point of Whistler Blackcomb, provides
an experience of adventure and relaxation. One visit to Whistler
Creekside will give you little reason in your mind to doubt
why it all began here.
