Whistler Glacier Creek Lodge Glacier Creek Lodge is a skier’s day lodge that is located in a sheltered mid-mountain bowl on the west side of Blackcomb Mountain. Glacier Creek Lodge is by no means a small facility, this large, 30,000 sq ft building was designed and built using a system that only took 10 months from concept to completion.

Being ideally located at the base of Jersey Cream Express and Glacier Express lifts and at the bottom of 11 runs, the Glacier Creek Lodge makes for the perfect place to attract customers either going up or coming down the mountain. In addition, Glacier Creek Lodge is a great place to take a moment or two to pause during your day of thrilling skiing or snowboarding and have a bit to eat or a drink to keep you energy levels high.

The look and design of Glacier Creek Lodge is spectacular. It obviously took careful planning and organizing to build such an amazing lodge half way up a mountain.
A clever and innovative design feature of the Glacier Creek Lodge is on the roof’s edges there are snow guards that prevent the snow from falling or sliding off the roof. The purpose of this design was to keep the snow on the roof for aesthetic purposes, but more importantly to provide a natural layer of insulation therefore reducing the energy consumption of the building and making it more environmentally friendly. The construction and assembly of Glacier Creek Lodge was no small task in itself either. Being not ideally located for a construction site, half way up a mountain, getting the materials and supplies to the Glacier Creek Lodge site was an engineering feat unto itself. The Glacier Creek Lodge is serviced by to gondola’s – the of Jersey Cream Express and Glacier Express which assisted in supplying the construction site with its necessary supplies. Items too large for the lifts had to be taken by helicopter or tractor up the mountain. Another feat was to not only maintain a steady flow of customers to the facility, but also supply the Glacier Creek Lodge facility with a steady flow of supplies and food. In addition to supplying, the gondola’s also act as a transporter for any waste the Glacier Creek Lodge generates. The transporting and supplying of good to and from the Glacier Creek Lodge must also be done in an unobtrusive manner so the patrons are not aware of its happenings.
